Near Times Square

Taken from the top of a tour bus while visiting NYC this past May. The original sky in this photo was solidly light blue and did nothing for the photo. I took the photo toward the surreal by replacing the flat blue sky with an image of the surface of swimming pool. You may or may not like the end result but to me it is much more interesting than the unaltered image. I hope you like it! :-)

I really like your treatment of the sky. And it was well done, as I could tell what you did before I read the rest of your post :-)

I like the addition of the pool water. It creates an interesting look. A nit; I think it got a little out of control and ended up on one of the buildings. The slightly dark gold one in the middle, top to bottom and the left third of the shot. If that was gone I would like it even more.

Thanks Jan and Doug!

Doug - I'll have to check when I get home but I'm pretty sure what you're seeing is just the light bouncing around the many mirrored building surfaces. I spent a very long time on this mask (too long) and I'm pretty sure (95%) that I didn't miss any areas larger than a few pixels. If I'm right I'll post the raw image so you can see the original light play...if I'm wrong you'll never hear from me again! :-)

Cheers!
Barry

I like this one a lot, to me it has a lot of impact. I like the sky treatment [good practice for our upcoming "Sureal" assignment] but my favorite part is the POV. Well done.

A lot of info in the photo making me want to see everything. Is that a bike trail up the center of the road? As for the effect...I like it. Maybe this would be a no-smoking add - vote against.

I looked at it pretty close before I wrote something about it. The pattern on the windows in that building seem to mirror the pool effect, but it doesn't show anywhere else in any other building windows. that's what made me think the effect extended into that building.

I could be wrong, but I'll keep yapping at you anyway.(:
