The Medina River

Today's photos were taken from a highway overpass crossing the Medina River near Bandera, Texas this past Sunday. I didn't really enjoy the cars whizzing by me at 55MPH but I did enjoy the view! :-)

Two great shots. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite between them. Watch for that traffic though!!

Not many would stop and take pictures from a bridge as cars are whipping by...but You did and the results are great! I agree with Larry...be careful. I flipped a coin and it landed against the wall but slightly on pic #2. I think you were there on the right day.

These are both beautiful photographs.

On the top one, I think that the right side is much more powerful than the left and so I might consider cropping this one from the left.

Also, in the bottom photo, I would consider cropping out the top portion of the sky. It just does not add much for me. Without that portion of the sky, the water takes your eye back into the lightest portion of the photo.

Really good photos that I wish were posted on my blog instead of yours!

Thanks Larry, David, MIL and Patrick!

Patrick - Thanks for the suggestions on the crops! I can see how both would be improvements. I'm still hung up on the shape of my camera's sensor I guess. I have been willing to crop to a square format some lately and sometimes I'll even go wild and crop to an 8X10 ratio! :-) My baseline though, until I can break the habit, is still 4X6.

Cheers!

Beautiful and serene. These scenes are the complete opposite from a busy highway, but you must have had Sunday drivers going WAY below the normal speeds if they were only at 55 mph! I like the bottom image best also, it has more of the fall color and the water is so calm and still. I almost get the feeling I could be in a canoe, slowly paddling along. The reflection is especially nice in that one too.

Thank you Cindi!

It was a Sunday when I took these! :-)

I had the same thought about the canoe.

Cheers!

I have to agree with most of the previous comments. My favorite is number two. I looked at both of them back to back and that one really spoke to me. I have to agree about removing the sky too.

Nice job Barry.
