#679. Its All About Me

Taken this past weekend at one of my old reliable shooting locations: Maas Nursery in Seabrook, Texas. This is actually a composite of two shots; one to get the frame in focus and one to get the subject in the mirror in focus.

#675. Foggy Beach

We returned home from a weekend in Galveston this afternoon. Friday evening and Saturday pretty much looked like this (Gulf of Mexico on right side of image). Not ideal beach conditions but we managed to have some fun anyway! :-)

#674. Corner Musicians (rollover)

If you are familiar with Seabrook, Texas you probably already recognize this scene. If you need a hint to jog your memory just hold your cursor over the image to reveal an underlying clue.

#673. Inside the Howitzer

Taken at the American Shooting Centers in George Bush Park during the Homes for Our Troops sporting clays event a couple of weekends ago. I previously posted an exterior shot of this mobile Howitzer which I included as the underlying image in the rollover to refresh your memory.

#672. Starburst Cross

Taken yesterday at Sagemont Church in Houston, Texas. This 170 foot tall cross was constructed two years ago on February 7, 2009. It is clearly visible from several major freeways in Houston and I've been meaning to photograph it for quite some time.

#671. Boatscape

Taken in Kemah, Texas late this afternoon. I didn't "see" this shot, my wife did. But I give myself credit for listening. :-) You can just make out the Boardwalk Bullet (the roller coaster on the Kemah Boardwalk) at the end of the row of boats.

#669. 600 (rollover)

Taken this past Saturday at the American Shooting Centers in George Bush Park during the Homes for Our Troops sporting clays event. This is the 600 yard rifle range. My boss likes to shoot open sight (no scope) at this range! It's hard for me to even see the big pile of dirt that serves as the backstop 600 yards away so I can't imagine trying to hit a bulls eye on a small target in front of it! :-) Admittedly the fish eye lens I used makes it look even further away so I included a tighter crop to give you a more accurate gauge of the distance (just hold your cursor over the image to see the closeup).

#668. Towers

Taken this past Saturday at the American Shooting Center in George Bush Park in Houston, Texas. The event was the annual Homes for Our Troops Sporting Clay tournament. I assume towers like the one in the foreground used to be used as a platform for the machines used to launch the clays. While these types of towers are still present on the grounds they have been abandoned in favor of steel towers with platforms mounted on an elevator mechanism that raises the thrower to the desired height.
