Sunday evening while on East Beach in Galveston I watched a photographer for a while as he set up a wedding shot. Interestingly enough he chose to set up where me and my truck were in the background of the shot. I guess he was planning to remove us in post-processing...but I relocated to save him the trouble.
Anyway, I'm always curious to see how other photographers do their situational photo setups. Hope you are too. :-)

Nice shot of a dude doing his thing. It would be interesting to see the shot he ended up with. The shot picture didn't look like it would end up with much actual beach in the shot!
Thanks Larry!
He posed the happy couple with their backs to the sunset which required the flash setup. I wonder if after I left he turned them around and took a few shots in natural light? Of course he wouldn't have the sunset in those shots which may have been his whole point.
Cheers!

How interesting, I always like to watch another photographer at work. Surprisingly the umbrella and reflector didn't blow over, and there are no sandbags weighing them down...Also, isn't she ruining her wedding dress being on the wet sand right at the water's edge? Maybe it is a trash the dress session! I too wish we could see the shots he ended up with.
Thanks Cindi!
It was a very unusual evening on Galveston Beach...virtually no wind! I have to think this was after the wedding and that preserving the wedding dress for posterity wasn't in the cards.
Cheers!

Oh, I meant to say cool new header too! You kind of look like Superman now!
Thanks Cindi!
Emma went out on the Internet somewhere and "cartooned" me! :-)
I don't know about looking like Superman but I did like the effect.
Cheers!

I think we all like to see how other photogs set up for different types of shots. Great idea to fire off a shot or two for review here.
Apparently he knew what he was doing, he was shooting Canon.
It's in deed a very differente picture! Liked it a lot.
It's well balanced.
Thank you Doug and Marco!
Doug - I agree. Shooting a Canon is a pretty good indicator of a real professional! :-)
Cheers!
