Lower Falls

This is another of the five waterfalls we visited on our recently completed RV trip. This waterfall is located in Robert Treman State Park in Ithaca, New York. Lower Falls is located on the opposite end of the state park from Lucifer Falls which I posted a photo of a few days ago.

Title: "Lower Falls"

Camera / Lens: Canon 40D / Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom
Post-processing: Photomatix to convert three handheld images into one HDR file > Photoshop CS3 for contrast, brightness and levels adjustments

This image is better than anything I saw on Tuesday night in Houston. A variation would be to remove the bright sky with a crop at the top.

Thanks Wayne!

I really liked some of the photos last night so I'm taking your comment as high praise! :-)

Cheers!

Happy birthday to both Barry and Larry--judging by how you two look, my guess is you're both 29!

As far as I am concerned, the beautiful lighting that is falling on the people is what this photo is all about. It is hard to make such an interesting waterfall the background, but this lighting did it, in my mind.

Really nice shot.

I LOVE ROCKS! The first thing I settled on was the texture in the rocks under the kids feet. What a beautiful waterfall!! You'll be processing for weeks! Good shot.

Thanks Patrick and Shirley!

Patrick - I too think it's interesting how the light is playing in this shot. I did try to pump up the brightness on the waterfall to even things out but I really couldn't do anything to fully compensate for the fact that the people were in the sun and the waterfall was in the shade...I eventually decided I liked it this way.

Shirley - I don't have as many pics to process as I would have liked. Turns out it can be almost as difficult to work photography into a vacation schedule and it is a non-vacation schedule. Live and learn! :-)

Cheers!
