We spent this past weekend in the Lake Travis area of Austin. One of our stops was the famous Oasis Restaurant where seating is available inside or outside on a series of hillside decks. The restaurant is famous for offering a spectacular view of sunset. About 10 minutes prior to sunset the Oasis staff removes all the umbrellas so that a clear sight line of the sunset is available to all the restaurant's customers.

Great shot Barry. I really like the way your composition splits the bright colors and hectic restraunt scene and the natural beauty of Lake Travis. I think it creates a surpisingly balanced and pleasing image.
I agree with Barry --- Great shot, and I love the vertical composition and your framing of the crowded restaurant with the more serene water. Brings back memories! Have you ever been to the Hula Hut? I think it is on Town Lake and is another fun Mexican food place. Are you following your brother's lead of tilting horizons, or maybe you shot this after a few Margaritas? It almost has a fish-eye effect!
Barry, I like the general image. There is a nice diagonal of the colorful umbrellas. You have several things for the viewer's eyes to explore: the pattern of color, the clouds in the sky, the boating activity on the lake, etc.
Since you have so much time on your hand (;->} , if you ever look for variations that you might like, I might suggest that you rotate the image counter clock-wise to keep the people from falling into the lake; crop a little at the top to just above the clouds to see if the blue sky is doing anything for you; crop a little on the left to bring more attention to the color in the center; even crop a little on the right?
Thanks Larry, Cindi and Wayne!
Based on your feedback I leveled the horizon and did a little more tweeking of the image. See the July 7 post for the redo!
Cindi - I didn't spot the Hula Hut this time but now I know to look for it on my next trip! Thanks for the tip!
Cheers!
Barry
