Baby Gator

This shot was taken on the Bay Area Photo Club's field trip to Brazos Bend State Park last Saturday. The alligator in this shot is a baby. Its whole head was about 6 inches long. During the course of the day I was struck by how much the baby and young alligators resemble the adults in general appearance. Only their sizes seemed to vary...at least to the untrained eye! :-)

Interesting! Good composition, with lots of textures from the algae to the wood and I like how you can see some of his/her scales so clearly. A suggestion I have would be to clone out the plants floating in the water in the center of the image as they draw my eye there. Now, did you shoot this before or after the huge one carrying another alligator crossed the path???

Nice portrait, but I am not sure who does her makeup--I think they might have selected the wrong color and applied a little too much green lipstick! I really like the contrasting lines of the tree and the alligator--makes for a very strong composition.

What, no topaz filter?

Nice shot Barry, I took a couple of these but the gator moved before I could get where I wanted to be. I do agree with Cindi though, cloning out the "high contrast distractor" would be an improvement.
