The Strand

Today's images are of The Strand in Galveston, Texas from our visit there last Saturday. The Strand is Galveston's historical business district and home to souvenir shops, restaurants, clothing stores and art galleries. Prior to hurricane Ike The Strand would be crowded with tourists on any given Saturday but on this Saturday, three weeks after hurricane Ike, the historical district is abandoned except for construction workers!

Barry, I really like the composition of your first Strand image, with the debris in the foreground and the dumpsters. Very eerie without people.

And your shots the post before of Murdoch's and the piers are great too. Your pp makes them look almost 3D. The colors are very nice.

Are some of these going to show up next week for "mood"?

Thanks SBL and Cindi! I really appreciate your comments!

Cindi, I haven't decided what to use for "Mood" yet. I'm getting caught up in the "no win" situation of trying to guess how "Mood" will be interpreted by the judges. As you know, it gets a little frustrating!

Cheers!
