GBF Bucket O' Grass

Yesterday I volunteered with some other Bay Area Photo Club members to photograph a Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) event. On Saturday volunteers planted grass on sand bars the GBF had built in earlier weeks. Eventually the grass planted on Saturday will spread and create wetlands in Burnett Bay in Baytown (the original wetlands were lost due to subsidence). We were there to document the event. Over the next few days I'll be posting some of my photos from the day.

Title: "GBF Bucket O' Grass"

Camera / Lens: Canon 40D / Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom
Post-processing: HDR image created by Photomatix Pro from three hand-held exposures (-2, 0, 2) > Photoshop CS3 > Topaz Adjust plugin

Really nice shot Barry. Good job of spotting the shot and taking the time to capture it in not the best of conditions. Great colors and composition.

Thanks Larry!

Glad you like it! I tried my best to document the event in an "artful" kind of way! :-)

Cheers!

I like the shot and the way you processed it. I do think it would have had more impact with a few of the volunteers around the island to more represent the event. You did state you were making it more artsy, so I understand why you went with this version.

To me, the pink bucket makes this photo. As you look around the image, the pink just seems so out of place and yet so perfect. Good job seeing this and then post processing it.

It is extremely interesting for me to read the blog. Thank you for it. I like such themes and everything that is connected to this matter. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
