Imperial Sugar

Taken this past Sunday as we were passing through Sugar Land, Texas. I liked the color version (keep your mouse over the image long enough and you should be able to see the color version) but wanted to go for a photo with a more historical look and feel befitting the subject matter.

Title: "Imperial Sugar" (rollover)

Camera / Lens: Canon 5D Mark II / Canon 24-105mm L zoom
Post-processing: Photomatix Pro to combine three handheld exposures (-2, 0, +2) into one HDR (High Dynamic Range) image > Photoshop CS4 > Topaz Adjust plugin

I like the composition of the photo. I do prefer the color version. But then again how about back to back and just flip them on any given day for the mood. Nice capture and glad you left the ground activity out.

I was the audit partner on Imperial Sugar and have seen this scene many times. Within the board room there is a shot that is almost identical to this one. I think it was taken around 1947. Good capture and post processing.

Thanks David and Patrick!

David - What I need is a photo frame with a rollover button! :-)

Patrick - Thanks for the historical perspective! I wasn't sure all three main structures were that old!

Cheers!
Barry

Nice job Barry. I'm with David with color versus sepia, torn. I like them both and will not commit to one or the other no matter how hard you try to make me. Smiley face goes here.

Nice job with composition and post processing. I like the color and the sepia versions but my fav would be the latter.
