What's to like?

This is one of the shots from my trip to Liberty, Texas a few weeks ago. I have to admit that this is a shot I suspect some (maybe most) folks will not appreciate. If I can't readily identify what I like about a shot I just don't think I can expect anyone else to like it...but I I can't help it ... I like it anyway. :-)

Title: "Long Shadow"

Camera / Lens: Canon 40D / Canon 17/55mm f/2.8 zoom

I like it too! I like how the bridge is in the upper 3rd of the image, I like the wire with the birds on it, all the texture of the mud (?) and of course the shadow totally makes it interesting! I think it is partly the contrast of the darkness of the shadow cutting into all the horizontal and diagonal lines that are more middle toned. It is really great how you caught the shadow intersecting with the tracks. There are lots of interesting diagonal lines in the lower 1/3 with more horizontal ones in the upper part of the image. You should send this to The Mindful Eye, I bet Craig will love it too.

Great shot, IMHO.

Thanks Cindi!

Your comments helped me to realize some of the points I like about this image.

I've never submitted anything to The Mindful Eye (other than shots from the one workshop I took with Craig) but I may just take you up on your suggestion just to hear what Craig has to say about it.

Regards,
Barry
