Another San Marcos River Bridge

After I shot the pedestrian bridge featured in yesterday's posting I was able to turn around and shoot this bridge!

Camera / Lens: Canon 40D / Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom
Post-processing: Photoshop CS3 > Duplicate Background Layer > High Pass Sharpening > Merge Visable to New Layer > Topaz Adjust plugin "Spicify" preset @ 80% Opacity > Curves Adjustment Layer to improve overall contrast > Black & White Adjustment Layer at 17% Opacity to tone down colors > Merge Visable to New Layer > Cloning to remove a distracting background element > Black & White Adjustment Layer at 17% Opacity to tone down colors > Curves Adjustment Layer to improve overall contrast > Levels Adjustment Layer to set black, white, and grey point > Selective Color adjustment to remove green color cast > Nik Viveza plugin to darkin portions of the foreground and highlight portions of the bridge > Distort Lens Correction Vignette

Barry I like this bridge a lot more too. But I get a feeling of being pushed to the left by all the foliage on the right...have you thought of cropping it square and getting rid of most of the bush? I really like the texture of the old boards with the light hitting them and I like how the bridge is at the top of the image. The weeds or algae in the water adds a lot of texture to the foreground too. The orange of the tree is nice with that dark, stormy sky.

Cindi - I think you are right about the crop! I have a strong tendency to stick with the proportions of the sensor on my camera even when I do crop. I really need to watch out for that!

I would like to see the square version posted with the majority of the shrubs cropped out. I would definitely leave the caladiums in the bottom right corner. I think it will totally change the photo by giving it more depth. Awesome shot Barry.
