Barry,
I like this series. It makes me want to take a little trip and see the jails myself. It also makes you "not want to do anything" that might get you in a place like this.
As I looked through all the photographs, I noticed that most them were taken from about the same perspective (slightly downward, eye level) and with with everything straight-up and down. I was wondering whether the series might have even more impact if you had changed your angle or perspective and/or you would have done a "Brian B" and put your camera at an odd angle.
I think that we all take too many photographs from eye level. I know that I do. I have made some of my most interesting series when I used a lot of different perspectives and camera angles. Somehow, I forget this from one outing to the next.
Good series, hope the towns paid you big bucks to help their tourism.
I think this one is one of my top 5 for the combined series of jail shots.
Thanks Patrick and Larry!
Patrick - I agree about the different perspectives. It isn't always possible to get a high-low perspective of a shot but one can always take a knee! My new motto is "Go low or go home!" :-)
Larry - I like this one a lot too. I'll leave the ranking up to you and others as it's just hard for me to designate one of my children as a favorite! :-)
Cheers!
Barry
