Taken on the beach in Galveston last Sunday. I took this shot intending to push in toward high key in post-processing. I'm don't think I actuall got there but I like the results anyway.
Title: "Galveston Gulls"

Shot data: 1/800s f/10.0 at 365.0mm iso160
Camera / Lens: Canon 5D Mark II / Canon 100-400mm L zoom
A little too much negative space. Also, having two subjects, while one is OOF, still does not let the eyes settle on just one.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Doug-- a little too much negative space. I was playing around with a crop that would crop down and eliminate the top half of the bird above and a little from the right. I think showing only part of the back bird might add some mystery to the image.
ReplyDeleteI do like how you controlled your depth of field to draw my attention to the main subject.
Thanks Doug and Patrick!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I still have some work to do on this one! After I looked at is some more I thought it might also benefit from one additional gull (an odd number of subjects being better than an even number and all that).
Cheers!
