Sorry guys but I mislabele...Thanks Cindi and Doug!

Sorry guys but I mislabeled this one! I was in fact using my 100-400 zoom so the lens was not an excuse for not "getting closer".

My thinking on the composition was that the grasses provide something for the gator to lurk behind and therefore add a tad bit of drama. Admittedly I may have missed the boat here.

Cindi - I have no idea of the actual size of this thing but even the littlest ones scare me! Especially if I don't notice them until I get closer to them than I should before I see 'em!

Cheers!
BarryBarry Armerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18315460669795988898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388114132841201130.post-4973312535128614452010-05-30T15:45:26.340-05:002010-05-30T15:45:26.340-05:00He was shooting with a 24-105mm. How close do you...He was shooting with a 24-105mm. How close do you want him...in the gators jaws maybe? (:

I agree with the comments about the grasses in the foreground. I can remember hearing that said about a photo of mine a year or so ago at club and not accepting that critique at first. Looking back and giving an honest assessment of my own shot had me agreeing with those comments. You just have to position yourself to exclude those distracting elements. If you are happy with the shot who cares?Doug Haasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12556596269817966949noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2388114132841201130.post-49214200522824009402010-05-30T10:53:21.844-05:002010-05-30T10:53:21.844-05:00That is exactly the reason I fear going to Brazos ...That is exactly the reason I fear going to Brazos Bend Park! I like the diagonal you have going on in the frame, but wish the plants were not encroaching along the bottom edge (why didn't you just step closer and crop them out? :)). If you could remove those in PS as well as the object right by his/her nose, it would make the gator stand out more. I really like the little circle ripples in the water in the upper right too. About how big was this thing? Just wondering.Cindihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07421165666804588521noreply@blogger.com
